FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you provide Giclee printing?
Yes, we produce Giclee prints. Giclee is a term that refers to the process of printing a high-quality inkjet print with pigmented inks on archival quality paper.
Must I request a proof print?
YES. We encourage ordering proof prints before producing more expensive final prints. We are not responsible for final prints made without proof prints (also called test prints). Proofing is a critical part of the printing process.
If you’re certain that your images will print correctly on our system, you are not required to make proof prints. However, you are required to accept our terms and conditions.
A NOTE ABOUT REPRINT ORDERS, PRINT ON DEMAND AND EDITIONS:
artprintsposters.net is not responsible for producing matching prints other than when the entire edition is printed immediately after the approved proof. There are too many factors outside of our control to allow otherwise.
While we employ best practices, we cannot overcome changes in technology and variations in paper or ink batches. We recommend that you have the entire edition printed at one time to ensure that the work does not need to be reproofed again due to changes in paper, inks, as well as the actual printer being used. Any re-proofing costs for future reprints are the responsibility of the client at our current rates for digital imaging time and printing.
What is a toner-based print?
Toner-based prints are not archival. They are printed on a heavyweight card stock on a digital press. This is an inexpensive way to reproduce art in full color. Use the Adobe RGB 1998 or Adobe sRGB color space when saving the file. Make sure the resolution is 300 dpi. Do not save the file with a CMYK color space.
What file resolution is acceptable for prints?
For optimum image quality set the dpi (dots per square inch) to 300 in a program like Photoshop. Do not upsize or upscale low resolution image files. This will increase the file size but will not increase image sharpness. Start with the correct image resolution and canvas dimensions when you create your artwork. This will help guarantee that your image will be sharp and print without pixelation.
Must my file be print ready?
Yes. Your file must be print ready. If there is an issue with an image file, the client will need to adjust the file and make another print at the cleint’s expense. Print issues include, but are not limited to: resolution, exposure, contrast, brightness, color balance, focus, sharpness, dust/sensor spots, and cropping.
What file formats are acceptable?
We accept PSD, JPEG, Zip and PDF files.
What color spaces are acceptable?
Please use either Adobe sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998 color space when saving your files. We DO NOT accept CMYK files.
How should I setup and save my note card?
The note cards are 10×7 inches unfolded and 5×7 folded. The inside of the card is not printed. The image should be no greater than 4.75×6.75. Save your image with the adobe RGB 1998 or Adobe sRGB color space at 300 dpi. Basic artist information may be added on the back panel. Download the veritcal or horizontal layout template for image orientation.
Turn around time and shipping
Once we review and accept your file the turn around time begins, normally 5-7 working day. Unless otherwise agreed upon, we ship via either Fedex, UPS, or USPS.
Can you scan my art?
Are there paintings that do not reproduce well?
Is it possible to combine toner-based prints and giclee prints in an order?
Yes, it is possible to combine your print order. It must be understood that there will be a noticeable difference between prints produced on the digital press (which is 4 color process) and the large formation giclee 12 color printer. The paper available for the digital press is a heavy-weight gloss/coated stock. There is a wide paper selection for the giclee printer (see our fine art and photographic papers listed on the site).
